Village Snow Removal Guidelines
12/14/2017 - 3:46pm

The Village of Versailles Public Works Department works hard to maintain safe driving conditions during a winter snow storm.  Here are some helpful guidelines for residents in case of snow accumulation:

· At the onset of a snowstorm, salt is applied to streets to prevent icing.

· Once plowing of snow has begun, several passes will be made on each street to provide curb to curb clearing.

· Depending on the duration of a storm and the amount of snow fall, it may be necessary to repeat the plowing process several times.

· When a snowfall stops, it takes the Village of Versailles Public Works Department approximately 4 - 6 hours to complete the snow-removal process town-wide.

· DO NOT PARK CARS ON THE STREET (If at all possible during an event). This impedes the snow removal process and causes vehicles to be plowed in.

· Shovel snow to the right side of your driveway (facing the street) to minimize the amount of snow entering your driveway.

· Shovel and/or blow snow onto the curb, not into the street.

When a snow removal operation is underway, The Village of Versailles Public Works Department works around the clock to provide the best possible service to the residents of the Village of Versailles. Your assistance during these type of snow events is very much appreciated.

Versailles Receives AMP System Improvement Award
11/30/2017 - 8:52am

By: Kyle Francis, Village of Versailles Utilities Superintendent

At the 2017 AMP/OMEA Annual Conference held September 26th-28th in Columbus, the Village of Versailles was awarded a System Improvement Award for the Circuit #1 12kV Conversion and Substation Improvements Project.  The AMP System Improvement Award was initiated to recognize utilities that have made a significant improvement in electric service and reliability to their customer-owners.

The Circuit #1 12Kv Conversion and Substation Improvements Project was completed in the fall of 2016, with a full switch-over from the existing 4 kilovolt (kV) to the new 12 kilovolt (kV) for customers occurring in May 2017.  The project included replacing all single voltage 4kV transformers to new dual-voltage 12kV units, replacing pole insulators, replacing aging pole cross arms, testing existing power poles, and replacing poles that were found to be deficient.  All distribution system improvements were completed by the Village of Versailles Electric Department.  In addition, contracted improvements were made at both the Greenlawn and East Water Street Substations by adding voltage regulator banks and switchgear to allow for the conversion of all four-remaining interior 4kV circuits that serve the oldest sections of the Village.  The Circuit #1 service area includes all customers from Swamp Creek to Morgan St., Warren St. to N. Center St. serving approximately 200 electric customers.  The circuit voltage conversion project was initiated in the fall of 2015 to improve the existing electric distribution system components in some of the oldest portions of the Village that have not seen such major improvements in the past 40 to 60 years.  These improvements have and will continue to increase the reliability of the service area and the cost-effective operation of the circuit on the Village electric system for customers.
